HACHISH.

A gentleman who lately took some haclush has written a letter describing his sensations, and if he had appended the address of the person from whom he procured the drug, the tradesman would probably have done a remarkable business. The experimenter took his hachish before dinner, and then sat down, lit a cigar, and waited develp meats What happened was both physically and mentally delightful. An agreeable sensation of warmth pervaded his body, and his mind seemed to travel to Fairyland. In this romantic spot he visited a calm moonlit sea, in whose ■waters beaut fnl women bathed, laughing. Aft-r that he seemed to be carried through an exquisite forest glade—whether any more beautiful women were there he does not relate Then he flew to the stars, and afterwards fell seaward, plunging beneath the waves. This does not soon I pleasant; but he liked it, for he felt quite as much at home in the water as in the'air or on land He “found himself in a glorious cavern, through whose rosy vault echoed the tones of organ.” All this oie can more or less understand ; what follows is more difficult of comprehension. He actually arose, went to the piano, on which he admits that, he is a very poor performer, and, to the astonishment of the fiend with him, he began a wi d melody like s me of the quaint creations of Saint Saens, and played it (so bis friend says) with brilliancy That a man who cannot play Inill ant, when in his sober senses should be able to play brilliantly when under the influence of a drug, is astounding The whole question turns, however, upon whether the friend was a judge of music.
