DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The usaa*. monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held on Monday •evening last, the 10th lust, in the committee room, i'owa Hall., Fiesentr Messrs 3. I T . Correspondence, including letters from ’the Government asking for leturn of expenditure, etc., for the past year; also not.fyhug. the remittance of subsi ly. and special samout in aid of support of patients Murdoch. and Perris, was read and received. ■ The Visiting Committee stated, that acting up to instruction* given at lasi meeting, they uad visited the hospital, taken siock •of all stores, and generally examined the hospital buildings, and now reportei that ■avitn the exception of the kitchen, that te■<luired painting, everything was satisfactory. Resolved : That the Visi'ing Com nittee lie empowered to employ some one to paint the kitchen. Mr Attfiel l, a member of the Visiting •Committee, reperte I that patient Murdoch •expressed a great desire to go home to the "Old < 'ountry to hi* friends, who would ne willing to receive him if he was sent Home, hut had not the means to fetch Inn or send fur him. He (Mr Attfield) thought every •effort should Pe made to gratify Murdoch's wish, and that application should be made to the Government for sufficient funds to •send him Home Mr Fache felt fully persuaded that the Government would give a direct refusal it ssuch a request wa* made. The committee should fully understand that the present arrangement of the Government giving special aid towards the sunport of patients M urdoch and Perris could be determined at any moment hy the committee if they thought the burden on the institution was too great. As to sending either one or the other Home, he thought it woul I be mistaken kindness, After some con iderable discussion it was resolved : That Dr Lewis be requested to report as to whether either Murdoch or Perris could bear the strain of a journey to the Old Country. Mr Sims, as a member of the Visiting Committee, desired to acknowledge a present of a soft cushion from Miss Delaney, of E rnscleuvh. Visiting Committee’s No 2 report recommending payment of accounts for salat ies and supplies for the past month, amounting to 1.56 15s, was read and reeeivnl. Resolved . That account from Mr Begg for tinsee -4 me* I and balance due, be returned to Mr Begg’s agi-nt, the committee knowing nothing about it. The Treasurer’s report showing a credit balance of L 74 16s 51 was read and re ceived. Resolved : That the Resident Surgeon he informed that in future all drugs, etc., must be ordered th'ough the Visiting Committee. The Surgeon’s report was read aud received. Mr Attfield was re-elected member of the Visiting Committee. A discussion ensue 1 on the water supply question, but no satisfactory result was arrived at. The meeting then closed.
