The IMi’Siet, or Supreme Court, pissed a sentenc" of deprivation of office upon Herr Silmer, the First Member of the Government of Norway, who was recently impeached and imprisoned by the Second Chamber of the Norwegian Parliament. ’lh« Rigsret have now confirmed the action of that body and condemned Herr Silmer to pay all the costs of the trial .• London, February 28. The mails via Suez end Brindisi, from Melbourne (January 17). were delivered to day. The cargo of frozen mutton by the British King hai arrived in excellent con lition The first portion sold to day at from 5Jd to fid per lb. r. The mutton brought from Sydney by the Iberia arrived in good condition. A portion was placed on the market to-day and realised from 4|d to 5d per lb A bag containing 201b of dynamite, with clock-work machinery, was found to-day in the clock-room at Charing Gross Kailway Station. An infernal machine was also found at Paddington Railway Station. These discoveries indicate that a project is on foot to destroy the London termini, and considerable alarm prevails in the public mind. February 29. The infernal machines found at the Victoria, Charing Cross, and Paddington railway stations are identical in construction, and are shown to be of American manufacture. It is proved that the clock-work mechanism in the one found at the Paddington Station failed to act. Had it acted a serious explosion would have occurred. The new Electoral Reform Bill will, it is estimated, create 2.0U0.01K) of additional voters ; and Mr Gladstone suggests that additional representation in the shape of a limited increase in the number of members in the House of Commons should be granted. Ha is not, however, favourable to any reduction in the number of Irish members. The Indian railway system is to be ex« tended to Quettah. It has been ascertained that some defect in the clockwork of the infernal machines found at the Paddington and Charing Cross stations had proven;ed their going off as intended. March 1. The “National Review” has published Mr Parson’s article on the Northern Territory. The European Powers have agreed to accept a conventiou for the protection of submarine cables.
