MINING NEWS.
(Common icA'riiD.) On the old line of the reefs on the CM Man Bu-ig« there is nothing frea i. AI iM c aims are still driving and rink-rig, at the Ji same time getting put stuff, tne vame of a Which, just as yet, is merely c-> jeolure. It, n howeve , looks well, prospects welt, and the quantity obtained is such thiv. if on it being n manipulated by the stampers it yields but ti a quarter of what <s expected, it can be c put down as a certainty that theie are “ claims on the Old Man Hinge as rich as are fi to be found ou many fields about which d there is far more said. A new line has fi been stiuck ab ait a mile further to the c North, and ou the slope of the spur falling ii into Butcher’s Gully. The prospectors, g M’Cormack and others, havu marked out t and applied for a lease of 16 acres on it, and >. they are sanguine of having struck a goo I m thing. The walla are well d- fined, an I the n quartz is more solid wicu Jess casing, and u in nearly every bit of the "tone the precious d metal can be plainly seen with the naked n eye. Sufficient wrk has not yet been ii done to foi m anything like a correct opinion a; as to whe- her it is a separate reef to White’s t 1 ne, or a continuation of it only. From t what 1 can see of it lam ioc'ined to be t lieve it to be a separate and and distinct ii re«f, and, moreover, that the show is a long v way better than many of the other claims d marked out on the old line. That the Old > Man reefs wid turn out well, and pay those n interested handsomely for all outlay there o is no - doubt; but amongst the prizes hj there are bound to be some blanks, ii and time must elapse before the payable s claims cau be spotted. Everything is in t favour of this assumption, not the least n being the immensely nob alluvial deposits t that have been and are still being worked b on the low ground ab the foot of the reefs. b ■ ’ ' i.. i i . hj
