It inspires them with Hope, for' in the bright lexicon of youth therein no such word as fail. ‘ Alas ! say many, this is .correct,—is true with regard to the youth vv;ho has never abused strength—and to'the man who has not been “ passion’s slave.” • But to that youth--to that man, who has wasted his vigor, who has yielded hansel* up to the temporary sweet allurements of vice, who has given imliridled;licenae to his passions, to hi in the above lines are hut as a reproach. What Hope can he have? What aspirations? What chance of leaving hi* footprints >■■■ the sands of time? For b ; ni,alas ! there is nought hut-dark despair and self reproach/or a tout life. Fora man to leave his footprints on the sandsof time, he must ho endowed with a strong hrain and in rvous power. He musi possess a sound, vigorous healthy mind, ii. a healthy b. dy—the power to conceive—the energy to execute ; But look at our Australian youth ! See the emaciated form, the vacant look, the listless hesitating manner, the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his demeanour and conversation, and then say, la that a man to leave his footprints on tho sands of time.

Do parents, medical men and educators of youth pay sufficient attention to this subnet? Do they ever ascertain the cause of this decay ; and having done so, do they (as a strict sense of duty demands) seek the skilled advice of tlie medical man, who has made this branch of his profession his particular specialty, whose life has been devoted to the treatment of there cases? Reader, what is your answer ? Let each one answer for himself. Parents see their progeny fading gradually before their sight, see them become emaciated old young men, broken down in health, enfeebled, unfitted for the battle o life ; yet one word might save them, one sound and vigorous health -giving letter from a medical man, habituated to the treatment and continuous supervision of such eases, would, in most instances, succeed in warding off the impending doom of a miserable and gloomy future, and by appropriate treatment restore the enervated system to its natural vigor, and ensure a joyous and happy life.

Dr. L, L. SMITH, of Melbourne, has made the diseases ofyouth and those arising therefrom his peculiar study. His whole professional life has been especially devoted to the treatment of Nervous Affentions and the Diseases incidental to Married Life, His skill is available to all--no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant. His system of correspondence by letter is now so well organised and known, that comment would be superduous- (by this means many thousands of patients hav been cured, whom he has never seen and never known); and it is carried on with such judicious supervision that though he has been practising this branch of his profession for twenty-six years in these colonies, no single instance of accidental dis oovery has ever yet happened. ■When medicines are required, these are forwarded in the same careful manner without a possibility of the contents of the parcels’ being discovered. Plain and clear directions accompany these latter, and a cure is effected without even the physician knowing who is his patient. ' ' ’ To Men and Women with Broken-down' Constitutions, the Nervous, the Debilitated, and from any Disease whatever, Dr. L. L - SM ITH’S plan of treatment commends itself, avoiding, as it does, the inconvenience 1 and expense of a personal visit. ' ,l .
