BLACKS.

(From a Correspondent). The weather has been very changeable of Ute, one day hot and the next wet and cold. I don't think our farmers will be able to grumble at want of rain this year. ■ Our new Courthouse is at last began, and will no doubt be both substantial and ornamental when finished, as tho contractor (Mr J. Druramy) has before now turned out work that is second to none in New Zealand. The local owners of racehorses are very bußy training. The Committee having laid -out tho course very satisfactorily, it is to be hoped that they will have good weather. HostGavan, of the Sbamrook, was tho •uccessful tenderer for the refreshment booth, and I am sure will do his best to provide for the hungry and thirsty visitors. Onr Sunday School concert and Chrstmas Tree is to come off on Boxing Night, and ■a from what 1 have heard and seen of the \ prizes they are both good and numerous. ■» The ladies who are getting it up will lam sure have reason to be proud of their work, and the winners will be pleased, as they ■will get a very good shilling's worth. There are all prizes and no blanks. I trust it will be the means of adding a good few volumes to the Sunday School Library, which 1 believe at present numbers nearly 100 books. ' • ■ _. i. Woodyear's Electric Circus appears here •n the -29 th, and our local O.C. give a concert and ball on New Year's Night, so we Bhall have plenty of amusements through 'th* holidays. •
