SCHOOL EXAMINATION.
OPHIR PUBLIC SCHOOL. ’’’he examination ot the Ophir Public School took place on Wednesday, the sth inat. The following is a summary of passes attainable and general report :
Passes attainable. 208 ; passes attained, 164 ; percentage gained, 78. General Report. This school has passed a creditable examination. The sixth Standard has done very well, and the others have done fairly. The reading of Standards I. and 11. was poor, but that of the other Standards was satisfactory and the language was well explained by all but Standard 11. Spelling was good throughout, and writing was creditable except in Standard 1.,, ~ Arithmetic on the whole good in Standards 1., 11., and VI., but weak in the rest. Grammar was generally well done, and History well by all except Standard 111. Geography poorly known in Standards 11., and IV., and very fairly in the rest. The Sewing was very fair, and the behaviour ot the children good, (Signed) P. Goyen, Inspector.
