DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Comraitte of Management was held on Monday evening last, the 18:h inst., at 8 p.m. Present— Messrs B. Naylor (President!, J. U. Cam! nidge {Vice-President), Attfield, Sims, J. E. Stevens (Treasurer), and Geo. Fache (Secretary). The minutes of previous meeting was read and confirmed.
Letter from Colonial Treasurer, advising of remittance of snbsi ty for past quarter, and letter from Colonial Secretary’s Department, suggesting that th ; Committee board out the patients Murdoch and Perris, and acquaint Government with cost After isensaion, it was resolved—That the Secretary write in reply to letter from the Colonial Secretary’s Office, that as both patients are bedridden and require the almost constant attendance of a nurse, and that a good strong one to lift them about, and requiring also regular attention of the doctor, the Committee see but little chance of them being boarded out. Every effort, however, will be tried. For the care of chem in the meantime, and until other arrangements can be made, the Committee express their willingness to undertake them on being al'owed by the Government a sum eaqual to L2 per week each. The Secretary was also instructed to make out a statement of accounts between the patients and the hospital at the rate for maintenance as laid down by the rules, and to ask for some relief from the Government. Visiting Committee’s No. 1 report to the effect that everything was working smoothly and well at the hospital; also that the vegetable garden had been protected from the rabbits by wire netting, was read and received. Report No. 2, recommending payment of accounts for salaries and supplies for tbe past mouth, amounting to LSO 10s 9d, was read and approved. The Treasurer’s report, showing a creditbalance of Lll 3s 7d, was read and received. Messrs Cambridge, Attfield, and the Secretary were appointed a sub-committee to canvass the town and district for subscriptions. The Secretary was authorised to send subscription lists to all station masters in the district, and ask them to kindly lay same before the shearers and other employees on the station. Surgeon reported that at the beginning of the month of November four patients were in the hospi’al; four had been admitted during the month ; and one discharged, leaving seven remaining in at the end of the month. Seven outdoor patients had also been attended to. The Surgeon also notified that he was hound over to attend the Supreme Court sitting early in January.
