A fresh case of sma'lpox has occurred amongst those in quarantine Irom the steamship Duke of Westm nster. The person attached was one of the stevedores of the vessel. The steamship Now'sheAr arrived here from London with 70 tases of measles and typhoid fever on board. She has been ordered into quarantine. SvpvjjY, September 15th. Laycock has met with an accident, by which his leg has been broken, and he has consequently found it necessary to ter minate the negotiations Which were proceeding for the match wi'h Hanlon. Melbourne, September 18. Among the passengers by the Messageries Maritimes steamship Saghalien, now in th's port and homeward bound for Marseilles, are the Irish informers Hanlon and Kavanagh. The men are travelling under as sinned rames ; but their identity has been completely e-tablished, and they will not be permitted to land. The following hors(3 have ben scratched for the Melbourne Cup :—Caractacus, Thorntodper, and Mountebank.
