BLACKS.

(From an Occasional Correspondent). What might have been a very serious accident occurred here on I harsday, the 30th of August. A trap containing Mrs J. N. MTntosh, Miss M Spain. Mrs M. Fitzgerald and child, and the driver, was coming round the corner of the hill into the township, wh-n the horse (which was a young one auo newly broken in) shied at a pool of water which had diained on to the road. The frightened animal attempted to rush up the hill, overturning the trap, and throwing the oocupan'sout. Mrs M Tntoah received a nasty kick on tho chest, and sundry other bruises ; AjissSpain a snndned ankle ; and Mrs Fitzgerald was only slightly hurt. Altogether it was a most Providential escape. 1 think, however, that Uia County ought to look to the roads and prevent the accumulation of water, as the next accident that happens may result in loss of-life. . . .Farmers are all busy ploughing, taking time by the forelock, the weather been splendid. The late Mrs Wilson was buried to-day, 4th September. She was one of the oldest, if not the first, female on the Ida Valley, her husband opened, I believe, tho first store on the Valley. She died from old ago, having reached her 83rd year. I am glad to inform you that our miners are bestirring themselves at last, aa they have mi moralis 'd for a share of the money set apart for mining pur paw 3, and tho shareholders of the Deep Lead deserve a share of it to assist them to prospect No. 3 properly.
