THE DISPUTE WITH THE BOOKMAKERS.
At a special meeting of the committee of the Adelaide Racing Club, held on Saturday morning, it was decided, with reference to the dispute with the bookmakers about the nonpayment of the registration fee of LlO 10s., demanded by the club, that the stewards demand from (he bookmakers the license fee of LIO 10s., which amount the stewards undertake to return to them in the event of the Supremo Court deciding that they are not justified in making the charge. It was also resolved that in the event of a refusal to accede to the demand the secretary of the club, who is to make a separate application to every bookmaker on the ground who is plying his avocation, shall say, “I am cli rected by the stewards to warn you to desist from plying your avocation or have lie enclosure, as the matter is now a subject of litigation. We shall not forcibly eject yon, but shall hold you responsible for the license fee o( £.O 10s” These resolutions, which were no doubt suggested by the legal advisers of the chib, were read at the last meeting, and adopted. Although postern on the course, uo notice was Sakon of them.
