The Mountain Race Co., Tinkers, applied to the Land Board yesterday that the Sections at Tiger Hill be reserved from sale for sludge channel. The application was granted. George Moran was committed for trial yesterday for suspected arson at Kaikorai. The Premier has promised to say when the Financial and Public Works Statement will be delivered to the House. It is stated that the assets of Guthrie and Larnach Company have been sold at such a price as will leave 5s per share to shareholders, but the same will not be paid till the final winding-up of liquidation. At the inquiry into the late fire yesterday, a veroiot was returned that there was no evidence to show how the same originated. The jury offered suggestions as to how similar fires may be prevented nr future. William Lingard, brewer, Wanganui, is insolvent. The Frozen Meat by the Garrone averaged sixpence half-penny. The American Dynamite Party are com pletely paralysed. The--French proposals to Maiage-e in. Madagascar have been refused, and French , troops are now advancing.
