A pnb'io meeting was held in the Library, Alexan ira, on the llth inst., for the puroose of taking steps to raise funds for the Dunstan Distriot Hospital. The Mayor occupied the chair, and explained that the meeting had been called in response to a circular r ceive I from the Secretary to the Hospital, requesting the co-oneration of the people of Alexandra in raising funds for the Institution. After considerabl discussion, the followings motions were passed : Moved by Mr Finlay- seconded by Mr Robertson—That the following parsons be appointed a committee, with power to add to their number, for the purpose of raising funds for the Dunstan Hospital:—Messrs Ratcliffe, Ryan, Robertson, Finlay, Wingfield, Tohill, Simmond-*, Beck, Forrest, Rivers, and Willcox.—Carried. Moved by Mr Finlay, seconded by Mr Robertson—That a subscription list be opened for the Hospital and placed before the meeting for signature.—Carried. Moved by Mr Simmonds, seconded by Mr Beck—That Mr C. McDonald be appointed Chairman. Mr Wingfield, Treasurer ; and Mr Forrest, Secretary to the Alexandra Local Hospital Committee.—Carried. Moved by Mr Wingfield, seconded by Mr Ratcliffe—That a Bazaar in aid of the funds of the Hospital be hell at Alexandra, on November 9.—Carried. Messrs McDonald anil Wingfield were appoints I to collect subscriptions. The sum of £l4 was collected in the room and the meeting then adjourned to the second Monday in July.
