COUNCILLOR AND CONTRACTOR.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir—Can a Councillor and Contractor sit at the Council table while his own and other contractors’ tenders are being dealt with, and give his vote which of the tenders should be eooepted ? If ha can, my opinion is that his bark must be as hard as a well-seasoned buffalochip. He has a great advantage over all other contractors ascertaining their schedule prices in all the various departments of bridge building and other public works, and if his own tendei, which of course is in the name of Duncan M ‘Tavish or Donald M’Phee, is not accepted, he is always gaining valuable information for other works of the same description.—l am, &c., No One.
