ACCIDENTS.
A most distressing accident occurred on Sunday night last to a man named M'Gregor, well known throughout the country, more especially in the'Wakatip distiict, where he has resided for some years past as a dealer in and drover of sheep. From what wa can glean- 'M'Gregor and two others were bringing a large mob of sheep up country, and on Sunday evening had reached somewhete about the top of Nobby Range. ' where they-" tdade their camp for the night ; about midnight the sheep broke camp, and thit in the excitement of roumiing them'-up M'Gregor fell 6ver a precipice of rocks some 60ft, deep. On being id kcd up: he was found to be serious-y injured, and as quickly as possible was conveyed to the Dunstan Hospital, where (in examination it was found that the pelvis was literally smashed, and the right thigh broken in two places, besides receiving other injuries. ; ( n inquiries of Pr. Wardale, the Resident Surgeon, we learn the case is a more than ordinary severe one, M'Oregor being a man well up in years, but that he is getting on as well as under the circumstances can be expected. He was single, aged 21), and lived at Timaru. Fielding, May Bth. A shocking fatal accioent occurred here yesterday. A boy 10 years of age, named William Salisbury, was thrown from his horse, and one of his feet catching in the stirrup, the horse plunged about and then bolted, dragging the lad for about a mile. The body was found near the railwaycrossing shockingly mutilated, being disembowelled. Both legs and arms were broken, and the skull scalped and fractured. The body presented a most ghastly appearance.
