SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
(From our own Correspondent.) Dunedin, April 26th, 7.59. p.m. At the Land Board yesterday. Popham and Nichol, were granted leases of sections in Stiath Taieri. Messrs M‘Caw, Elliot, and Fisher appeared before the Board and applied for licenses.—Decision was deferred. Agricultural leave was granted to J. F. Walsh,Cromwell, and Frederickson, Shotover. Both the Wains to-day were committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter. The Oreti hotel and store at Dipton, were destroyed by fire on Thursday morning. The Massey case is expected to finish to-night. The North Island Siamese twins are dead. Mr Yezey Stewart goes home to float a Railway Company of £250,000, and also a frozen meat company. Archbishop Yaugben, of Sydney, was presented with £3OOO by his flock before leaving lor Rome. It is reported that James Ashcroft is to be presented by the public with LIOOO.
