[advertisement.] THE STRANGE AND PREVAILING DISEASE OP THIS COUNTRY. Like a thief at night, it steals in upon ns unawares. Many persons have pains about the cheat and aides, and sometimes in the back. They feel sleepy : the mouth has a bad taste, especially in the morning. A sort of sticky slime collects about the teeth. The appetite is poor. There is a feeling like a heavy load on the stomach ; sometimes a faint all-gone sensation at the pit of the stomach which food does not satisfy, the eyes are sunken, the hands and feet become cold and feel clammy. After a while a cough sets in, at first dry, but after a few months it is attended with a greenish coloured expectoration The afflicted one feels tired all the while, and sleep does not seem to afford any rest. After a time he becomes nervous, irritable, and gloomy, and has evil forebodings. There is a giddiness, a sort of whirling sensation in the head when rising up suddenly. The bowels become costive ; the skin is dry and hot at times ; the blood becomes thick and stagnant, the whites of the eyes become tinged with yellow, tbe urine is scanty and high coloured, depositing a sediment after standing. There is frequently a spitting up of the food, sometimes with a sour taste, and sometimes with a sweetish taste ; this is frequently attended with palpitation of the heart; the vision becomes impaired, with spots before the eyes ; there is a feeling of great prostration and weakness. Ad of these systems are in turn present. It is thought that nearly one third of our population has this disease in some of its varied forms. It has been found that medical men have mistaken tbe nature of this disease Some have treated it for liver complaint, some for dyspepsia, others for kidney disease, &c., &c., but none of the various kinds of treatment have been attended with success. It is found, however, that Seigle’s Curative Syrup will effect a perfect cure in every case. This article can be obtained from all chemists and medicine vendors throughout the world, and from the proprietors, A. J. White, (Limited), 21, Farringdon Road, London ; or the wholesale agents, Kernpthorne, Prosser and Co.’s New Zealand Drug Co. (Limited), Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. LIVER COMPLAINT, BILIOUSNESS AND JAUNDICE. “Angus St., Clunes, Australia, “May 17, 1880. “ Dear Sir, —It is with great pleasure that t bear testimony to the value of your excellent medicine. For some time I had suffered with liver complaint and biliousness, afterwards yellow Jaundice set in, and was very ill indeed for twelve mouths. During that time I consulted several medical men, and took tbe medicine they prescribed without any benefit, and at last I began to despair of ever getting well again. However, I was induced to try Mother Seigle’s Curative Syrup, and after taking the fifth bottle I began to get better. I continued taking it for some time, and now I feel better than I have done for years. I send you this hopiug that it may induce similarly afflicted persons to try your valuable remedy. I shall be very glad to answer any questions, either personally or by letter, in reference to tbe Syrup. “ C, Clarke.” Seigle’s Operating Pills are the best family physic that has ever been discovered.
