THE KAIAPOI CASE.

At the K .'Hanoi Resident Magistrate’s Court on April 16th, the cases of the Waimakariri Harbour Board agamst Charles Edward Dudley fOf- embezzlement . was heard. Accused, having reserved his def-nee, was formally committed for trial. The case of larceny as a bailee was deferred for a fortnightIn the case of the Kaiapoi Borough Council versus Dudley (ex town clerk), for contempt of an order made on February 19:h to produce certain missing rate-hooks, Mr Whitcfoord, R.M., committed him to prison for one month, and allowed one day to give him an opportunity of resisting the order in the Supreme Court. He also granted a week’s grace to allow of the matter being taken into the Court.
