OTAGO CENTRAL TEAAI’S TOUR. VINJENT V. MANIOTOTO. (Bv our own Reporter.) The annual County match was played at Nisi'by on the 220 d March, and resulted in an easy win for the Alaniototd. The Vincent team played at a groat disadvantage, having only six of the original team, the remainder consisting of three from Blacks, and two emergency men kindly lent by the Manioioto team. The weather was anything hut agreeable for cricket—a raw wind blowing the whole of the day, making good play out of the question. The game itself does not call for special comment, as only M‘Donald and Mathias made anything for their respective clubs, M‘Donald making 19 and 24, his score in the second innings containing two good liits for 6 each. Alathias played a good game for his runs. The ■same may also be said of M ‘lnt.nsh, who put 19 together in a short time. The bowling was good, considering the weather and the state of the wicket. A lunch was given to the visitors at Oswald’s Royal Hotel, where the usual toasts and speeches were indulged in. In the evening a complimentary concert was given to the visiting team in the Athenaeum Hall, which was a great success. A word of praise may be said in regard to the concert. Everything showed the kind and hospitable feeling of the Naseby people towards the visiting team. The fact of giving three cheers for the success of the team and the singing of Auld Ling Syne will not be forgotten by the team. I most not omit to mention that the Rev. H. J. Davis was indefatigable in his exertions to make the tiling a success. The team left fot Dunedin on Friday morning. The following are the scores and bowling analysis : Vixcent—First Insikos.

(From the Dunedin Paptrs ) OTAGO CENTRAL Y. DUNEDIN, The first match between an eleven from the uold fields counties anil a Dunedin team was played on the Oval on Monday. The Goldfields team, which was captained hy Mr Williams, consisted of representatives from Vincent, Maniototo, and Lake Counties, including Crawshaw. The Dunedin Combined team was captained hy Glen. The visitors winning the toss, sent their opponents in. The visitors are evidently not strong in bowling. Only two bowlers wore put on in the first innings, and in the second, though frequent changes were made. 1 the howling was indifferent. The Combined team was disposed of in the first innings for a total of 50 runs, of which Ivens made 11, the only two-figure score The visitors mtde (16 runs in their first innings, hut more than one-half of the score was made by Mathias ; while six of the team failed to make a single run. In the second innings ! the combined team put together 139 runs, ’ hut as the match was decided on the first j innings—the stumps being drawn at C ■ o’clock by agreement—the visitors wore victorious. In the Dunedin team’s second I innings Frith made a score of 06 runs, but he had poor howling and indifferent fielding i to contend with. The hatting of the com-

b'ned team particularly in the first innings, was not as it should havo been, ami several cliamj. a which Mathias gave were missed by the fielders. A somewhat unsatisfactory feature of the game was the manner of play adopted by some of the Dunedin players in the second innings, ami after having run up what they thought a sufficient number in their second attempt, they thought fit to throw cricket overboard, ami decided to go out quickly, with the notion of then disposing of the visitors for a small score, and so obtaining a win. Consequently two or three of the batsmen allowed themselves to be put out, and to add to the indignity thus put upon the visitors, Frith was ail vised to let his wicket drop, though ho very properly refused to do so. Some high words ensued over the matter amongst the Dunedin players, and the onlookers showed their dislike of the uocricket like display made. The following are the scores

OTAGO CENTRAL V. SOUTHERN. The cricketing team from the goldfields played another match on the Oval on Tuesday Their opponents were principally members of the Southern Club—a junior club—but fi ur other cricketers played with them. The visitors again won the toss, and sent their opponents to the wickets. The Southern Club made a score of 147, of which E. Horne contributed no leas than .13, Niven 17, Johnson 16. Newberry 11, and Horne 12. F. Horne played sp endidly sending the ball time after time to the fence and scoring rapidly, though playing cautiously. The bowling was fair, as was also the fielding. On the visiting team going to the wickets they only put together a score of 7.3 runs, and had to follow their innings. In their second attempt the'' were successful, having made 93 runs for eight wickets. Mathias made a good scor' in both innings 'iz., 29 and 41, and M‘Donald’s batting was also greatly admired ; lie made 31 and 33 runs respectively. None of the other members of the visiting team, however, made a larger score than 7 in one innings, and many of them failed to score at all. As tiie match was decided on the first innings, the Southern Club won by a majo ity of 74 runs. The scores were as] follow :
