BLACKS AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

This show took place on Saturday last the Ulhinrt., in a paddock kindly set aside for the occasion by Mr Harrington at the back of the township, and all things considered was fairly successful, though neither in the number of people present or the quantity of exhibits did it come up to expectations. The wretchedly unseasonable weather during the whole harvest (an almost constant downpour of rain) prevented many from both putting in an appearance or in sending exhibits. In so far as the getting up of the show everything was as it should be, but it cannot be denied ; the carrying of it was not quite|so satisfactory. The stock were not classified, and no end of complaint was heard about the awards not being made on the ground as visitors and owners alike were altogether in the dark as to the prize exhibits. The Secretary and Working Committee were as active and energetic as was possible for men to have been, hut in this particular they to a degree tripped. On future occasions it is to be hoped the same cause of complaint will not exist. In the live stock sections there was but little competition, but in fruit and dairy produce, and cereals, there was a really good show, both in quantity and quality, and of which the district should be justly proud. In the evening a supper was given at Gavan’s Hotel, to which about 30 gentlemen sat down and fully enjoyed themselves. Below is appended a list of the prizes: Class A.
