These races, which took place on the 2lsf, 22nd, and 24th- nit., ’ [recording to the metropolitan papers, were eminently successful, though the 24th was a wet day, and doubtless deterred many from putting in an appearance. ' The total amount put through the totalisators was £22,-509, the largest amount ris yet invested at any race meeting in New Zealand.
