DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held in the Committee loom. Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday, the sih inst, at 8 p.tn. Presentß. Naylor, Esq (President), * J. U. Cambridge, Esq (Vice President), J. If. Stevens ( treasurer), and Messrs Att(ield, Holt, Sinn, Jeffery, and G. Fachc (Acting-Secretary). Mr Saylor briefly returned thanks for the honor c inferred on him by electing him President, and while asking the assistance of the Committee as a whole in carrying out the duties of the office, aaid every off irt would be made by liira towards maintaining the uiefuluess of the Institution. The Secretary then read the minutes of two previous meetings which were confirmed. The Visiting Committee’s report No. 2, recommending payment of accounts amounting to £76 7s 9J, was read. The Secretary said one item—Dr Hyde £l2 10s, balance of salary—required some little explanation. Ue sai l at the first meeting of the Committee after Dr VVard.le entered upon his duties as Resident Surgeon be had lodged an account for payment in the name of Dr Hyde for £75 Os 01, being 15 visits at £5 per visit; another account for £9 for Dr Hyde’s hotel expenses when in Clyde was also put in. It was thought by himself and others that that was the total claim. However, Dr Hyde objects I to this view ■>{ the matter, and handed in in account for 14 visits at five guineas per visit and £J4 horse hire, making in all £B7 Ids (M, and it was the difference between the two amounts that was in question. It was therefore to be seen that with the £B7 10s Dr Hyde charges, £9 hotel expenses, the costs of advertising for a surgeon and other incidental expenses, the unfortunate trouble with Dr Foot hid cost the Institution considerably over £IOO. The Committee while thinking the charges very high, said there appeared to bo nothing left but to pay them, but left the matter in the hands of the Secietary nod Mr Jcffory to settle the best way they

could. Tim 'whole accounts were then passed fir payment. . , The Trcaanrer’a report tor JaiitUty, 1883, as follows was rea l anijficeived s Receipts. .■ . £ s. d. Balance in B.N Z January 20th 63 3 I
