A SERIOUS FIRE.
A fire attended with enormous loss of life has occurred in a circus perfornrng in a small town in Southern Russia. The origin of the fire is attributed to an emplovd who threw a lighted cigarette among a heap of straw in the stable, which was at once fanned into a strong blaze, and the huil ling was in an incredibly short tim>- enveloped in flames. Many of the audience jumped fiom the different galleries' into the'ring, and were either killed outright or suffocated before they could be rescued, - Among*-the', spectators in the lower portion of the building many were suffocated, while a largo number were trampled fd death. Derhicheo is the town in which the fire occurred, and there is great excitement. ■ During the fire ten horses belonging to the circus, galloped in f o the ring kicking but furiously, and several received severe ihjflry from 'this cause. It is estimated that four hundred lives were lost.. •. . . .
