(From our own Correspondent. ) Dunedin, January 11, 7.53 p.m. Arrowtown, Macetown, Pembroke, and 'Cromwell are to he connected by telephone at once. Large numbers of volunteers in Wellington and Auckland have decided not to serve under the new Regulations. A boy named Gask was killed during a ■cricket match at Auckland bv some ot his playmates dragging a roller which smashed his skull in. A strike amongst Melbourne bakers is imminent. Dunedin won the bowling match against Christchurch this afterno n. The charge against Maasty and wife was continued to-day at the Police Court. Mr Stout opened at length, though the case looks very bad against Massey, it had to be adjourned for another week. A pocket bo k was found in Massey’s premises containing entries of numbers of debentures and other information. The failure to float Victorian Loan caused great emprise in Melbourne, The Stamp Revenue for December quar' tor is over L 108,000; New Zealand Insurance Co. meeting at Auckland yesterday was very satisfactory, report submitted and dividend three ship lings per share declared.
