THE PURE-BRED CLYDESDALE ENTIRE HORSE pOB THE RANTER Will travel this season the Alexandra district, visiting Blacks, and Ida Valley every other week. Rob the Raster, bred by Robert Muir, Esq., Argowan, North Taieri. Foaled in 1873 ; got by the celebrated horse Emperor, bred by W. H. Valpy, Esq., out of Maggie Lauder, bred by John Barr, Esq. Emperor, by Napoleon, imported, out of Nancy, imported, bred by Mr. Findlay, Easterhill, by Bailieston, Glasgow. Maggie Lauder by Prince Charlie, bred by Mr jAnderson, Wigtonshire, imported to Melbourne by Messrs. J. and M. Mackintosh, out of Blanche, imported by the late D. Nesbit, Esq, Young Emperor full brother to Rob the Ranter took first at the Oamaru Show in 1875, and first prize at the Molyneux Show in 1878. Nancy, own sister to Rob the Ranter.has obtained two first prizes at the Taieri Show and was bred by Robert Muir. The first prize dry mare at Oamaru in 1878 was own sister to Rob the Ranter and also bred by Mr. Muir. Rob the Ranter is a dark bay horse, stands 10| hands high, of a quiet docile temper, and has proved himself a sure foal getter. He was exhibited at the Taieri Show in 1874, where be gained first prize, beating nine others ; [in 1875 e was placed second, beating ' seven others. When three years old. he was ced third at the Waikouaiti and Shag Valley n 1876. When four years, he took first prize at the same Show in 1877, heating five otheis, and in 1878 he was awarded first prize over seven others. At Blueskin the same year was placed first, beating six other competitors. He also carried off the sweepstake at Blueskin the same year for the best animal on the ground. In 188b, betook first prize at the Waikouaiti and Shag Valley Show ; first prize at the Blueskin Show, and the champion prize for the best representative of the draught breed, and third prize at the Metropolitan Show the same year. Maggie Lauder, his dam, has been the winner of sixteen prizes, ten of them being first prizes in Otago. Thus showing Rob the Ranter on both sides to have come from the most successful prize stock exhibited in Otago—a position which he emminently maintained. THE ENTIRE DRAUGHT HORSE EN LOMOND li Wid stand this season at Mr. Harrington’s farm, Blacks. Securely fenced and well watered paddocks, the best in the district, provided for mares at Blacks and Ida Valley. PEDIGREE. Bkn Lomond is a beautiful dark bay with black points ; was foaled 25th February, 1860 ; stands 16J hands high ; sire, Sir Benjamin. Sir Benjamin by the imposed horse Ben Lomond. Sir Benjamin’s dam was imported from Scotland by Richard Brodie, Esq. ; Young Ben Lomond’s dam, Blossom, was by Messrs MTntosh’s imported horse, Prince Charlie ; Blossom’s dam, by Mr R Brodie’s imported mare Nell. This shows that Young Ben Lomond is bred from imported stock, both sire and dam’s side. His stock have taken first prizes at the Blueskin Annual Show 1873, 1874, and 1875, against all comers. A one year old filly by him took first prize at Palmerston, in 1870. Ben Lomond took first prize against all comers at Black's Annual Show, 1881 ; also did some of his stock take first and second prizes at the same show. Last year, a yearling colt and a three-year unbroken filly changed bauds at LSO each. These facts speak for themselves. He is a splendid worker and sure foal-getter.
