BOARD OF HEALTH FOR CLYDE.
* Pcblic meeting was held in the Town Hall, Clyde, on Tuesday evening last, for the purpose of considering the sanitary condition of the town, and the advisability of of forming a Board of Health. Mr. F. J. Wilson was unanimously voted to the chair. The Chairman explained the object of the meeting, and referred to the fact of scarlatina being prevalent in and about Clyde ; anil also alluded to the existence of nuisani cos. He then read extracts from the W. Z. Gazette, showing the importance ot certain measures being taken in places where scarlatina and other infectious fevers prevailed. Mr. Geo. Fache proposed : That the sanitary condition of the district urgently calls for remedial measures. Seconded by Mr. Masters, and carried unanimously. Mr. Geo. Fache proposed : That it is advisable that a local Board, under tlie Public Health Act, should be appointed. Seconded by Mr. G. Clark and carried unanimously. Mr. A. Joss proposed : That it be a recommendation to the Central Board of Health that Messrs. Hickson, Stewart Naylor, Joss, and Jeffery be appointed a local Board of Health. Seconded by Mr G Clark. Carried. After a good deal of discussion as to the boundary of the district to be brought under the working of the Act, Mr. Geo. Fache proposed: That the boundaries of the proposed district be towards, the North the Leaning Bock Creek to its source, thence in a straight line to the Wai Kcri Keri Creek, thence by the JWai Keri Keri jCreek to the Blacks Road, thence by western boundary of Moutere Run towards the south by a straight line along the southern boundary of the Race Course Reserve, from thence to the River Molyneux, and thence by the said river to the starting point. Seconded by L. D. Macgeorge. Carried. The meeting then adjourned.
