VINCENT COUNIY COUNCIL.

The usual two monthly meeting of the Vii,cent County Council was held in the County offices, Clyde, on Wednesday last, | the full C. unci' were in attendance Mr M. J. M Ginn is occupied the chair. Before the business was opened, Cr. Colclnugh said he had to protest against Cr. M ‘Ginniss i.c copying ihe chai'-, and he thought in face o! the writ of quo warranto that had been obtained to oust that gent'eman from the seat he was usurping that he should retire from the position. The Chairman, in reply, said he intended to proceed with the business of the meeting and would call on the Clerk to read tho minutes. The minutes having been read and confirmed, Cr. Colclough handed in the following :—I give notice that I ohject to the chair being occupied hy Cr M‘Ginniss he not Iteihg duly elected thereto and farther that while a proceeding in the ■ nature of a quo warranto has hi en exhibited against Cr. A discussion ensued on the duti e of inspectors, some Councillors thinking the Council should receive a detailed report of all cattle slaughtered peri odically. The question was ruled out of order, s the Council had nothing further to do with the police than conferring the appointment. Cr. Colclough said he would move at next meeting for the return. From the Bannockburn Progress Committee, conveying a censure on the Council for its action in reference to tho gold duty. McGinniss to move—That the decision arrived at at the lust meetng of Council on the following extras on Contract 62 (Alexandra Bridge), viz .•--Claim for galvinising wire cable, clerical error in calculations tor stone work in small piers, and for extra iron used in the construction or the bridge beyond the specifications, be revoked, aud these claims be again taken into consideration. It was eventually resolve lon the motion Cr. McPhail seconded by Cr supported by Cr. Colclough and the Chairman that L6JO be given in settlement of the claim. Immediately previous to the motion being put. Or. McKeiiar desired to speak t> the mot'on, but was ruled out of order, he then voted under protest, and after the v„ e was taken, banded in a written protest against the action of the chair in preventin ' him from speaking to the motion, or allowing him to move an amendment. The Council adjourned at 2 30 a m. on the 28th, until 10 a m. , On resuming at 10 a.m , Crs. McGinnis (chanman), Welsford, Pitches, and Stronach present. The Bye-laws relating to depasturing on the commonages (as printed in our last issue) with some slight amendments were adopted.
