CRAIG AND CO., Proprietors “ Lives of creat men all remind us, We can make our lives sublime ; And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time.” THE above is read with great interest by thousands of yenug men It inspires them with Hope, for in the bright lexicon of youth there is no such word as fail. Alas ! say many, this is correct, - is true with regard to the youth who has never abused strength—and to the man who has not been “ passion’s slave.” But to that youth—to that man, who has wasted his vigor, who lias yielded '■’mseP up to the temporary sweat allurements oi vice, who has given unhridledjicensu to his passions; to him the above lines are hut as a reproach. Wflat Hope can he have? What aspirations ? What chance of leaving hie footprints on the sands of time? For b"-,, alas ! there is nought but dark despair and self reproach for a lost life. For a man to leave his footprints on the sands of time, he must he endowed with a strong brain and nervous power. He must possess a sound, vigorous healthy mind, is a healthy body—the power to conceive—the energy to execute ! But look at onr Australian youth ! See the emaciated form, the vacant look, the listless hesitating manner. the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his demeanour and conversation, and then say, Is that a man to leave his footprints on the sands of time. Do parents, medical men and educators of youth pay sufficient attention to this subjeet ? Do they ever ascertain the cause of this decay ; ami having done so, do they (as a strict sense of duty demands) seek the skilled advice of the medical man, who has made this branch of his profession his particular specialty, whose life has been devoted to the treatment of these cases? Reader, what is your answer ? Let each one answer for himself. Parents see their progeny fading gradually before their sight, see them become emaciated old young men, broken down in health, enfeebled, unfitted for the battle o life ; yet one word might save them, one sound and vigorous health giving letter from a medical man, habituated to the treatment and continuous supervision of such cases, would, in most instances, sue ceed in warding off the impending doom of a miserable and gloomy future, and by appropriate treatment restore the enervated system toils natural vigor, and ensure a joyous and happy life. Dr. L L. SMITH, of Melbourne, has made the diseases of youth ami those arising therefrom his peculiar study. His whole professional bfe has beer, especially devoted to the treatmen : of Nervous Affections and the Diseases incidental to Married Lift. His skill is available to all- no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant. His system of correspondence by letter is now so well organised and known, that comment would be superfluous- (by this means many thousands of patients have been cured, whom bo has never seen and never known) ; and it is carried on with such judicious supervision that though he has been practising this branch of his pro fession for twenty-six years in these coin nies, no single instance of accidental dis oovery has ever yet happened. When medicines aro required, these are forwarded in the same careful manner without a possibility of the contents of the parcels being discovered. Plain and clear directions ac company these latter, and a cure is effected without even the physician knowing who is his patient. To Men and Women with Broken-down Constitutions, the Nervous, the Debilitated and from any I lisuase whatever, Dr. L. L SM ITH’S plan of treatment commends itself, avoiding, as itooes, the inconvenience and expense of a personal visit. A dilre.es — DR. L L. SMITH, 182 Collins Street, MELBOURNE. Late the residence of the Governor). ONBUI.TATION PEE AY LETTER, LL
