Rob the Rant r is a dark bay horse, stands KiJ hands high, of a quiet docile temper, and bas proved himself a sure foal getter. He was exhibited at the Taieri Show in 1874, where he gained first prize, beating nine others ; in 1875 he was placed second, beating seven others When three years old. he was placed thi'd at the Waikouaiti and Shag Valley in 1876. When four years, he took first prize at the same Show in 1877, beating five othe s, and in 1878 he was awarded first prize over sev' n others. At Blueskin the same year was placed first, beating six other competitors. He also carried off the sweepstake at Blueskin the same year for the best, ani- ! tnal on the ground. In 188b, he took first ' prize at the Waikouaiti and Shag Valley Show ; first prize at the Blueskin Show, and the champion prize for the best representative of the draught breed, and third prize at the Metropolitan Show the same year. Maggie Lauder, his dam, has been the winner of sixteen prizes, ten of them being first prizes in Otago. Harkaway is a beautiful bay and stands 16 hands and 3 inches in height. He is one of the strongest horses that ever travelled the districts, and is suitable for getting any class of horse required in the Province—either cross country or strong upstanding roadsters with plenty size and bone. Harkaway is half-brother to the famous horses Totara, P.irawhenua, and Toi Toi, a'l being good pierformers in the province.
