(From our own Correspondent.) BOMBARDMENT OF ALEXANDRIA I!Y TIIK ALLIED FLEETS. London, July 11. Intelligence has reached Renter’s office that tlie bombardment of Alexandria by the English fleet commenced this morning at live o’clock, and is now proceeding. The
cannonade is very heavy and principally directed upon the forts which were erected by the Egyptians. PROTESTATION BY FOREIGN CONSUES. Latest telegrams from Alexandria report that all European subjects and foreign Consuls have gone on board the vessels in the port. The foreign Consuls have presented a joint note to Admiral Seymour protesting against the bombardment, which they state is uncalled for. The French and other war vessels have taken up a position outside the harbour and the British vessels alone remain inside. Admiral Seymour has shifted the vessels under his command, to positions directly confronting the forts and guns, and much nearer them than formerly. Everything is in readiness, and the bombardment is momentarily expected to commence. A panic prevails among the inhabitants of Alexandria, who are fleeing for safety , Great consternation prevails in the city. TWO FORTS BLOWN UP Alexandria, 9 a.m. The forts have returned the lire of the English ironclads and a heavy bombardment has continued on both sides. Two of the forts have been blown up by an explosion, and the guns of another have been silenced. The remainder of the forts are now slackening their fire. None of the ironclads have yet suffered any material damage The Egyptian fire has so far had no serious effect upon the ironclads. The explosion of forts was due to the burstin,’ of shells. The casualties on the side of the Egyptians are not yet known. BRITISH MEN-OP-WAR. The following are the names of the British men-of-war at present bombarding Alexandria, together with the number of guns carried by each. Alexandra, 9490 tons, 12 guns ; Antelope 1020 tons,2guns ; Beacon, 4003 tons, 4guns; Bittern, 3805 tons, 5 guns ; Cockatrice, 2543 tons, 3 guns; Condor, 780 tons, 3 guns; Coquette, 430 tons, 4 '"guns; Cruiser, 900 tons, 4 guns ; Cygnet, 455 tons, 4 guns ; Decoy. 430 tons 4 guns ; Falcon, 780 tons, 3 guns ; Grappler, 401 tons, 4 gnus ; Hecla, 0400 tons, 0 guns ; Helicon, 1000 tons, 2 guns; Hibernia, 4140 tons, 12 guns; [flexible, 11,400 tons, 4 guns; Invincible, 0010 tons, 14 guns ; Iris, 3730 tons, 10 guns ; Monarch, 8320 tons, 7 guns; Superb, 9100 tons, 10 guns; Temerare, 8540 tons, 8 guns. The following vessels arrived to-day from Channel .squadron, Achilles, 982 tons, 10 gnus; Agincourt, IO.OQo tons, 17 guns ; Minotaur, 10,690 tons, 17 guns ; Northumberland, 10,750 7 guns ; Salamis, 1000 tons, 2 guns ;

Alexandria. July 12. All the inland sea ports have been silenced by the British guns. The ironclads will resume the bombardment to morrow, when the forts command ng the harbour will be attacked.} A party will shortly be landed to blow up the guns in the silenced forts. The Khedive’s palace, which stands mar the sea fort has suffered severely by the bombardment, and is now iitteially in rains. The statement that 40 had been wounded on board the English ironclaus by the tire of the Egyptians guns is fully continue,). It has now been ascertained that the Egyptian have suffered a loss of live killed and 27, wounded. The English ironclads have sustained very little injury from the lire of the Egyptian guns. Some anxiety was felt for the safety of the Khedive whose whereabouts is at present unknown. situation , It is now authoritatively stated that not- * withstanding the protest of the Foreign Consuls the majority of the European Powers approve of the bombardment of the Alexandrian forts by England. Said Pasha has been appointed Grand Vizier m place of Abdur Eahaman Pasha.
Latkr. It is now known that the bombardment will be remmeil in the morning, as it has been ascertained that the Egyptians were repairing some of the damaged forts during the night. °
