THE AUSTRALIANS IN ENGLAND. London, June 1.

The Australian cricketers commenced their six l ’h match to-day at Manchester against Eleven of the County of Lancashire. The visitors went first to the wickets, and ware all disposed of for a total of 259 runs. Murdoch batted splendidly, and never gave a chance until he was caught for 68. Massie was bowle I for 47. Bannorman was l.b.w for SO. Blackham was howled for 22. The Horae team then went in for their first innings, and at the conclusion of the day’s play had lost two wickets for 54. The weather during the day was fine, and the attendance at the match enormous. June 2.

The cricket match at Manchester, Australians v. Eleven of Lancashire, was resumed to-day. The Home team continued their first innings, and were all disposed of for 118. Being 141 behind the Australians, the Lancashire men then followed on their innings, and when time was called had put together 213 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Mr A. G. Steel made 50, and R. G Barlow 55. Spofforth was in first-class form, and Ids bowling for the Australians was much admired. The attendance of spectators were large, although the weather was cold and inclement. The Australians’ fielding was very good, but tile wicket was not in good order. June 3. The match was resumed at Manchester to-day There was a very large attendance and the greatest interest was taken. The weather was showery, and the wioket was consequently not so lively as yesterday. The Lancashire men resumed their second innings with seven wickets down for 213 nms. The remainder fell for 56, making the total 269, and leaving the Australians 129 runs to get to win. These they Obtained for the loss of six wickets, and the Australians thus scored a victory by four wickets. The bowling of the Englishmen was dead on the wicket, and their fielding was excellent. In their second innings Barlow was top scorer with 67.

The cricket match which was to have been commenced to-day at Bradford between the Australian Eleven and Yorkshire county team has been postponed until to morrow on account of the rain.
