On Saturday morning a hoy found a scrap of paper on the river bank, near the Stamnore bridge, Chris'church, with the following written on it with pencil : “ Near the Stanmore bridue, about KlOyds. on tbe New Brighton side, you will find my dead child, as T put it inside the river hist night with a stone around its neck, and it sunk. From a broken-hearted mother.— Suned. A.M.” The police are searching for the 1 body, but believe the affair to he a hoax.
