Dunedin, Thursday Mr Quin, Master of the Benevolent Institution has commencd criminal proceedings against Mr Hitchcock in connection with charges against the management last year. At the Land Board yesterday, the application to transfer jetty at Shotover to Mr McQueen was referred to Chief Surveyor. Bryant’s application for agricultural lease at Mid Wakitipu was granted. The application of Ewen Duncan and McKenzie and W. Cumming were referred to Government.
It was unanimously agreed that the Board impressed with the desirability of some of their number visiting without delay the runs and portions of runs which have been reserved for settlement, with the view of recommending Government as to the liest mode of dealing with same ; but before doing so would wish to bo informed whether any expences which may be incurred in connection with such expedition will he defrayed by the Government without the very inconvenient delay which has been experienced on previous occasions.
A house near Cavers ham which was in course of building fell in this morning, six men were working at the place but were uninjured.
