ALEXANDRA SCHOOL.
The annual meeting for the purpose of electing a school committee for the current year was held in the school room on the 23rd inst. Mr. G. N. McDonald occupied the chair.
The following report of the retiring com mi'tee was vea l
*• Gentlemen,—Our term of off, go having expired, we bug to submit our report mi l balance sheet for the past session. Your committee took cilice with a credit balance of £2l 16s 6d, and have received from the Education B iard the sum of £4B IDs, which has been supplemented with the sum of £IS 15s Gd—the gross proceeds of the concert {held on the 2nd hist, in all of the prize and dicing fund—making a total of GOT fh G t. Thu expenditure amounts to £57 Us Jl, including prizes and the exp tines connected with the concert, leaving a balance in the bank to handover to our successors, af or 1 1« piymeat of all accounts, of .till Ss 91. You- committee take tnis opportunity of recording their thanks to tue ladies and gentlemen whoso kindly and ably resp nnleil to the request of the com nitte i to give their assistance, vocally a d instrumenta ly. The sum realised we h-'pe cur mi eessnrs will succeed in getting subsidise I by tho Education Board for the purpose oi getting a sub stnncial fence erects i round the school grounds. Your c iiumittee have to report that no complain s have been brought under their notice e ai ding the atieu 1.-mce, &c. There were 112 scholars on the roll at tue bugiiimng of last yea--, 23 new K-nolars I were admitted during t.he year, and 2S left the school. The highest number during the year was 135 and there wore 107 at the end nf the year. The average attendance was : For the Istqmuter, 10G ; 2nd quarter, 99 ; ’ 3rd quarter, 8!) ; 4th quarter, 91 ; anil tile percentage of passes at the yearly inspection was 84 Your committee made application 1 1 the Board for a pupil teacher, which was retu«si lin consequence of thti attendance not reaching t.iie required number. In conclusion, your committee have pleasure in reporting that they have worked in perfect harmony with the teachers and parents, and that the school continues to be prosperous as heretofore. The secretary having read the report and balance-sheet, it was moved by Mr W. Thomson, s.-eoinled by Mr J.
