[BY TELEGRAPH.] DUN ERIN, Thursday. The report and balance-sheet of the Colonial Hank are published, and recommend the payment of a dividend of 7 per cent. The libel case, Massey v. Allen, closed this afternoon, with a verdict for plaintiff 1,5. The Judge made some strong comments on the verdict returned. A man named Patrick Grange, who has been missing since Saturday, was this morning 'found drowned in the harbour. Death is supposed to be accidental, News to haul from the Melbourne Quarantine Station states it is feared another death from smallpox will occur.
The match between the English and Twenty-two of Timaru yesterday was won by the English. Timaru scored 111, and the English 119 for four wickets. At tlce Land Hoard yesterday the application of James Gibson, Cromwell, to purchase sections under agricultural lease-wore recommended for approval of Government. The applications of Messrs Miller and Goodger in Wakefield were similarly dealt with. Applications for deferred payment leases were approved of to I}. Hallenstein, in Coneburu and Wakatipu, also to J. Wither, South Wakatipu. The application of Henry Campbell to lease 300 acres, Wanaka run, was declined. The application of John Miller for 50 acres compensation for damage caused by Hoods was referred to Government.
The agitation which for some time past has been manifest in Southern Dalmatia is da'ly assuming a more serious aspect and the inhabitants are rising in arms against the Austrians at several points. The agitation has now extended into Herzegovina, and on account of the attitude of the inhabitants large bodies of troops have been despatched by the Austrian Government to reinforce the troops recently despatched to Dalmatia.
“The Times” to-day states that Mens. Garabetta and Viscount Lyons, British Ambassador in Paris, are now conferring on the subject of the renewal of the Anglo-French commercial treaty, and that there are hopeful signs that an understanding may yet bo arrived at between the two countries.
Side Ali heir presumptive to the throne, has been arrested for conspiring at Tunis to overthrow his brother, Mahomed el Sadox, Bey of Tunis. Further intelligence to hand regarding the recent disaster on board II M.S. Triumph at Coquimbo states that it was caused by an explosion of chemicals. A proposal emanating from the Government was to-day submitted to the French Cham ers, providing nrolongation for the further period of one month of the AngloFrench commercial treaty, which otherwise expires on the Bth prox.
