THE CLYDE CAEBDONIAN SPORTS.

The Clyde Sports Committee again hold their annual sports ou January ->, ami wore as usual very successful from every point of view. The races generally were keenly coutested, and large numbers of contestants put in an appearance for nearly every event ou tbo programme. The prizes ware very good—in fact, perhaps the.largest and most valuable offered at any sports yet held up-country. About2oo people were on tbo ground, amongst them being a good sprinkling of visitors from the neighboring villages and towns, tbo ladies particularly being in force. Amity and goodwill prevailed amongst both the victors and the defeated; and tbo arrangements made by the Committee for the carrying out of their programme were well matured—consequently no bitches of the slightest nature occurred during the day.—The following is a detailed report of tho running ; Boys’ Race under 12 years of age. Six started, but only four finished, viz., Ure, H eney, M‘ M illan, and M 'Connochie, hut as some objection was raised to Heney and Ure’s walking—which was more like running than fair heel and toe walking—the Committee gave them permission either to recontost the event, or to divide the stakes. The latter course was decided on, each of the above four receiving 15s as his share of the prize money. Youth’s Race, 100 yds.
