In 1879 he was awarded third prize at the Metropolitan Show, Dimedin, beating Mr Grant's imported horse and several other renowned prize-takers ; and he was a second at Waikouaiti the same year. In 1880, lie took first, prize at the Waikouaiti and Shag Valley Show ; first prize at the Blueskin Show, and the champion prize for the best representative of the draught breed, and third prize at the Metropolitan Show'the same year.
