THE ENGLISH CRICKETERS.
SYDNEY, December 10. Tho cricket -match 'between the Eno-!ish team and Eleven of New South Wales was commenced here to-day. Tiro weather was line, and the attendance good. The wicket was dead. The English went first to the wickets, and when the stumps were drawn for the day.had put together 235 runs for the loss of only five wi.-kets Barlow, 1, not out, for 71 ; Selby, caught and bowled, for 50 ; Ulyett was howled for 47. DECEMBER II Tho cricket matelHihetwccu the English team and an eleven of New South Wales '■• as continued to-day at Moor Park. The attendance was very large, and great interest was taken in the contest. The Englishmen resumed their first innings, which closed for 275, Barlow being howled for 75 and Scotton howled for 25. • The play of tho visitors was much admired. The New South Wales Eleven went in for their fust innings, and when stumps were drawn for the day they had put together 104 for the loss of three wickets. The fielding of tho Englishmen was very good. December 12 The cricket match between tire English team and Eleven of New South Wales was continued to-day The local team were all disposed of in tho first innings for 210, of which Murdoch contributed 53. At tho "lose of -the day’s play the Englishmen had put together 145 runs for the loss of six wickets, .Midwinter being notout for 45, ami Barlow not out for 20.
December 13, The cricket match between the English Eleven and Eleven of Neav South Wales was concluded today, and resulted in a victory for the former by 06 runs The respective scorer in each innings were: English 272 and 102; New South Wales, 210 and L>G. Or the last named total, "'lassie contributed 73. In the second inning of the New Sou ill V/nbis the bowing of tic Englishmen was dead on the wicket and their fielding was spemlid. December 14 The cricket match between the English Eleven and Twenty-two of Parramatta was concluded to-day, and resulted in a victory for the local team by five wickets. The Englishmen in their second innings only succeeded in putting together (15 runs. The Twenty-two went in requiring 49 to wm. They obtained the required number with the loss oi 1G wickets, and thus woa the match by five wickets. The ground was rather bumpy, and the bowling of the Parramatta men was dead on the wicket.
