ROYAL POKE is a jmrc-brrdClydesdale, . stands 104 hands high, possesses great strengtn of bone, firm action, beautiful symmetry, and i of a tTight bay colour ; he also has proved himself a sure foal getter. Royal Duke won the first prize when a thice year old colt in Dunedin, and ttro second prize against all comers at the Cluiha. At the Agricultural Show, Dunedin, he also gained the prize as a three year old colt. One uf his foals, shown in Tokomairiro last year, gained the first prize against numerous competitors. Royal Duke was got by Champion (well known to be the best horse imported to this colony), out of the eelehr ited mare Jessy, imported in 18(1.3. by Me srs Emmery and Stragh.it>,- from Tasmania. PEDIGREE. Ben Lomond is a beautiful dark liny with black points; was foaled 25th February, 1869 ; stands IGA hands high ; sire, Sir Benjamin. Sir Benjamin by the imported horse Ben Lomond. Sir Benjamin’s dam was imported from Scotland by Richard Brodie, Esq. ; Young Ben Lomond’s dam, Blossom, was by Messrs M’lntosh’s imported horse, Prince Charlie; Blossom’s dam by' Mr R. Brndie’s imported mare Nell. This shows that Young Ben Lomond is bred from imported stock, both sire and dam’s side. His stock have taken first prizes at the Blueskin Annual Show 1873, 1874, and D 75, against all comers. A one year old filly by him took first prize at Palmerston, in 1876. Ben Lomond took first prize against all comers at Blacks An mial Show, 1881; also did some of his stock take first and second prizes at the same show. Last year, a yearling colt, and a three-year unbroken filly charged hands at LSU each. These facts speaks for themselves. He is asplendid worker and a sure foal-getter.
