Royal Duke will travel this seas;m through Blacks, Tinkers, Drybread, Ida Valley, and St bathans’ Districts, ROYAL DUKE is a pure-bred Clydesdale, stands 16A hands high, possesses great strength of bone, firm action, beautiful symmetry, and is ot a bright bay colour ; he also has proved himself a sure foal getter. Royal Duke won the first prize when a three year old colt in Dunedin, and the second prize against all coiners at the Clutha. At the Agricultural Show, Dunedin, he also gained the prize as a three year old colt. One 'of his foals, shown in Tokomairiro last year, gained the first prize against numerous competitors. Royal Duke was got by Champion (well known to be the best horse imported to this colony), out of the celebrated mare Jessy, imported in ISG3, by Mo-srs Emmery and Straghan, from Tasmania. The same year she gained the Taieri Agricultural Society’s first prize for the best colonial-bred mare, and the second prize for the best draft marc at the Show, beating Mr Nimmo’s black imported direct from Scot” land, and the fol'owir.g year took prizes both in Dunedin and Taieri.

Sir Benjamin’s dam was imported from Scotland by Richard Brodie, Esq. ; Young Ben Lomond’s dam, Blossom, was by Messrs (M'Tntosh's imported horse. Prince Charlie; Blossom’s dam by Mr ft. Brodie’s imported mare Nell. This shows that Young Ben Lomond is bred from imported stock, both sire and dam’s side. His stock have taken first prizes at the Blueskin Annual Show 1873, 1874, and 1875, against all comers. A one year old filly by him took first prize at Palmerston, in 187 G. Ben |Lomond took first prize against all comers at Blacks Annual Show, 1881 ; also did some of his stock take first and second prizes at the same show. Last year, a yearling colt, and a three-year unbroken filly charged hands at LSO each. These facta speaks for themselves. He is a splendid worker and a sure foal-getter.
