Securely fenced and •well watered paddocks, the best in the district, provided for mares at Blacks and Ida Valley, PEDIGREE. Ben Lomond is a beautiful dark bay with black points; was foaled 25th February, 1869 ; stands 16J hands high; sire, Sir Benjamin, Sir Benjamin by the imported horse Ben Lomond. Sir Benjamin’s dam was imported from Scotland by Richard Brodie, Esq. ; Young Ben Lomond’s dam, Blossom, was by Messrs M’lntosh's imported horse. Prince Charlie; Blossom’s dam by Mr R. Brodie’s imported mare Nell. This shows that Young Ben Lomond is bred from imported stock, both sire and dam’s side. His stock have taken first prizes at the Blueskin Annual Show 1873, 1874, and 1875, against all comers. A one year old filly by him took first prize at Palmerston, in 1870. Ben Lomond took first prize against all comers at Blacks Annual Show, 1881; also did some of his stock take first and second prizes at the same show. Last year, a yearling colt, and a three-year unbroken filly charged hands at LSO each. These facts speaks for themselves. He is a splendid worker and a sure foal-getter. Terms—£3 15s, to include groomage. Guarantees by agreement. One mare out of five allowed gratis, being the property of one owner. Such mare to be named by owner at first service. TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON, ENTIRE DRAFT HORSE THE The property of Thomas Mce, of Blackstone HilL Royal Duke will travel this season through Blacks, Tinkers, Drybread, Ida Valley, and St. Bathans’ Districts. ROYAL DUKE is a pure-bred Clydesdale, stands ICJ bauds high, possesses great strength of bone, firm action, beautiful symmetry, and is of a bright bay colour ; ho also has proved himself a sure foal getter. Royal Duke won the first prize when a three year old colt in Dunedin, and the second prize against all comers at the Clntha. At the Agricultural Show, Dunedin, he also gained the prize as a three year old colt. One of his foals, shown in Tokomairiro last year, gained the first prize against numerous competitors. Royal Duke was got by Champion (well known to be the best horse imported to this colony), out of the celebrated mare Jessy, imported in 18C3, by Messrs Emmery and Straghan, from Tasmania. The same 'year she gained the Taieri Agricultural Society’s first prize for the best colonial-bred mare, and the second prize for the best draft mare at the Show, beating Mr Nimmo’s black imported direct from Scotland, and the fol'owing year took prizes both in Dunedin and Taieri.
