"TTNDER the provisions of Section 93 of vJ the Mines Act, 1877, wo hereby make application for a special claim of 30 acres, being a strip of land CO chains long by 5 chains wide, as pegged out by us, running along the south-east base of the hill from Blacks No. 3, ami passing through Blacks No. 2, being over what is known as the Deep Lead. And wo apply under circumstances involving the expenditure of considerable sums of money, the lead being nearly 200 feet deep, and requiring substantial shafts, long tunnels, much timber, and regular provision tor getting rid of water. Weights for the Alexandra Handicap will appear in the “ Dunstan Times ” on Friday, Sept. 23, 1881 ; and the acceptances for the same must be sent in to the Secretary before 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 6. Weights for the District Handicap will be declared after the Alexandra is run. Entries for the Maiden Plate will close at the same time. No person allowed to nominate a horse for either of the Handicaps unless he bo a subscriber of not less than £1 Is to the race fund.
Three horses to start in each event, or no race. No entries will he received for any of the above races except on the following condition!;— That all disputes arising ont of the racing shall be decided by the stewards,and their decision final.
