Mr Feraud has succeeded in producing AROMATIC TONIC BITTER WINES, which are not only agreeable beverages, but also have excellent medicine' qualities. The following is Professor Black’s report:— “ University, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand Laboratory. Class—Beverages. November sth, 1875. ’ , I have examined for Mr J D. Feraud, of Monte Christo,-Clyde, Otago, two samples of Aromatic Tonic Bitters, with the following result: —No. 827 is a shelry colored, and No. 828 is a port wine red colored liquid ; they arc? bolh pc fectly transparent showing the pm ity of the water and other ■substances employed in heir manufacture. These two beverages have a slight acid chemical reaction, and possess an agreeable cool hitter taste, blended with a sensation of sweetness. arising from the sacharine matter of the fruit of which they are the fermented extract. 1 have also exa- ined the aromatic and other flavoring subst cs used by iMr Feraud in their manuf^i,,i e, and from the 10-oportions in which they are blended v ith the fruit wine, they must he pronounced perfectly safe, ami free from anything like deleterious properties. 1 consider Ibis wine, therefore, an agreeable and perfectly safe beverage, and when diluted witli three or four times their bulk of water, they will make a good cooling summer arm k.
