VINCENT COUNTY COUNCCIL,

The following is the business to bo transacted at the next meeting of the Council to be held on the 20th instant at Clyde:— Adjourned Motions. 1. Or Masters to move—That, in consequence of the large extent of unoccupied Crown lands within the boundary of the Vincent Rabbit District, and the alarming increase of rabbits on such land, it be an instruction of this Council to the Vincent .Rabbit ast to exempt from the operation of ie dog tax (in accordance with the cerms of “ The Rabbit Nuisance Act ” now in force) reasonable teams of dogs kept solely for rabbitting purposes. 2. Cr Masters to move—That the present action of the Rabbit Trustees in discountenancing all other means except phosphorous poison for rabbit destruction is calculated to foster the farming of rabbits to the great detriment of the County, inasmuch as a great part of the year when feed is abundant rabbits cannot be effectually destroyed by that means. 3. Cr Masters to move—With a view of encouraging' the continued destruction of rabbits through the County, two depots be established for the purchase of skins : one at Nevis township, and one at or near Cromwell ; the price to be paid not to be less than 2|d for winter skins, and 2d for summer skins. Notices of Motion. 1. Cr Stronach to move—That the memorial of the miners of Tinkers’ Gully, in re Sludge Channel—be considered, and the subsidy asked for, be voted. The amount not to exceed £SO.

2. Cr Jolly to move—That the resolution of the Comity Council, passed on the 26th January, 1881—revoking sections 2, 3, 4, and 5, of the Depasturing Regulations be rescinded. The said sections to take effect and become law ns from the Ist August 1881.

3. Cr Jolly to move—That the resolution altering section 8, increasing the assessment fee payable annually for great cattle to 5s bo rescinded. The said fee to bo fixed at 3s 6d as formerly, and come into force as from the Ist August ensuing.

4. Or Fraser to move—That the Governmennt be requested to complete the construction of the Alexandra Bridge.

5. Or Fraser to move—That the Government be requested to apply the scheme of constructing roads through lands about to be sold to the Vincent County, seeing that a large area in the same will shortly be available for settlement.

G. Cr Fraser to move—That a surfaceman bo put on the road between the Linilis and Hawea.

7. Cr Jollyto move—That the resolution passed at a meeting of the Council, held on the 25th May, 1881, ordering the erection of a chair over the Clutha river be rescinded, with a view to passing the following : “ That the Engineer be instructed to “ inspect the Clutha river, and report “ to the Council as to the best site “ for working a ferry near the p’O- “ posed I.uggate bridge, having in view '■ the removal of the Clyde punt and “ working the same ; the cost of erec- “ tion and approaches not to exceed- “ L 350.”
