The Squadron, consisting of Her Majesty’s ships Inconstant, Carysfort, Tourmaline, and Gleopatra left Port Phillip on the Bth instant for Sydney. The Royal Princes proceeded with the Inconstant, the Bacchante being being detained to complete her repairs. At a grand ball given by the Governor of Victoria to the Royal Princes on the 7th instant, seventeen hundred guests were present.
Sir Bryan O’Lnghlen has selected the following gentlemen to form the new Victorian Ministry:—Messrs J. M Grant, D. Gaunson, J. H. Graves, H. Bolton, the Hon F. S. Dodson, Mr T. Bent, and Dr L. L. Smith.
At Sydney, oh the Bth instant, another case of small pox was reported. The sufferer resides in the centre of the city, and is a young woman named Monaghan. A Sydney telegram of the 9th instant states a fresh ca»e of small pox is reported making the third within 24 hours The disease has again appeared in the heart of the city, in Sussex-street, the sufferer being a girl eleven years of age, and a further telegram of the 10th instant, reports another case on that date. The sufferer is Edward Vertch, a native of Germany. The P. and 0. Company’s s s. Venetia arrived at Melbourne on the 12th instant with the inward Suez mail. The Rotorua sailed from Melbourne for the Bluff, on the 12th instant, with the New Zealand portion of the English mail.
In consequence of the increase of smallpox in Sydney, the Victorian Government is considering the advisability of taking further precautions to guard (against the introduction of the disease in that colony. The small-pox is increasing in Sydney. A fresh case was reported on the 11th instant, the person attacked being a woman living in the suburb of Ultimo. There are now twelve infected houses in the city and suburbs. A '''mall-pox Board has been appointed to devise fresh means for preventing the spread of the disease, an 1 a special quarantine station is now in course of construction, where all small-pox pathuts will be sent
Another case of small-pox was reported to the Sydney Board of Health on the !2th instant. The suffer is a woman named empleton, residing at Pyrmont, one of the suburbs adjoining the Oitv
