The Auckland City Council have arranged for a citizens’ ball in honor of tho visit of the Detached Sciuadrou.

At Auckland, recently, Mr C. Green way, a wealth land owner, was committed to prison for seven clays, for refusing point blank to answer a question put to him as a witness in an embezzling case against a man employed by a City contractor. He was subsequently released upon his to the magistrate. On tho 4th instant, at Auckland, there were eleven cases of typhoid and scarletina in the hospital. Recently, at Auckland, George Wilson (one of the few remaining survsvors of the Orpheus, which foundered at Manakau in 1803) died. Ho had been an inmate of tho hospital for four years.
