BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, June Ist. In the House of Commons to-day, consideration of the Irish Land Bill, in committee, was resumed by Sir Stafford Northcote, who condemned the measure, and denounced in strong terms the feebleness of the Lush policy of the Government. The London Press, in discussing the present state of affairs in Ireland, are almost unanimous in recommending the Government to tako steps to completely suppress the Land League. Intelligence from Ireland continues to report serious affrays between the Police and people at various places over tho eviction of tenants. The state of the country is dahy becoming more disturbed. Juno 3. Mr Gladstone has addressed a letter to the Press in which he denies that the Viceroy of Ireland has suggested to Government the advisability of taking steps for the suppression of tho Irish Laud League. Serious disturbances continue to occur in Ireland. At Clare to-day a body of Irish peasants, armed with Snider rifles, offered violent resistance to tho service of certain writs, and shots were exchanged with the troopers, who were present to support tho process servers. One man was killed, and many others seriously wounded. Juno 3. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,9(30,000 quarters. Juno 4 In the House of Commons last night stormy scenes occurred during consideration of tho Irish Land Bill in Committee, owing to the obstructive tactics of tho Irish members. Mr J. O. Kelly, member for Roscommon, was most (disorderly, and was finally, by tho Speaker’s orders, suspended for tho remainder of the sitting. Juried. Owing to tho continuance of disturbance in Ireland further reinforcements of tioops have been ordered across the Channel to augment tho forces in the disaffected districts. Tho Police in Ireland aro now actively engaged in searching for arms in tho houses of suspected persons, in accordance with the powers conferred by the Irish Arms Act.
