PIGEON SHOOTING-MATCH.

The annual meeting of the Dunstan District Gun Chili was i eld at Clyde on May 24, and, as usual, passed off successfully. The day was beautifully fine, being very mild and calm, consequently, besides the shootists and their friends, a large number of people attended to witness the day’s proceedings—l was going to say sport, but by no manner of reasoning can I look upon shooting from a distance of from 20 to 25 yards as sport, a dove, as many 0 f the socalled pigeons were nothing else. The prizes for the principal event were a repeater carriage clods as first prize, and a silver ink-stand and silver salver for second and third honors, which were won by Messrs Willmott, Merewether and MacGeorge respectively. Appended are the scores of the above match : This Cup Match.

Handicap Sweepstake of 10s each; five birds. First prize L 3 10s, second L2, third Til.

The shooting in this event was, as a rule, very bad. Dalglish won the first prize, with Dewar and Turton ties, and Willmott third

After the conclusion of the match, the shootists and their friends adjourned to Mrs George’s hotel, where a sumptuous dinner was laid out. To use an old phrase, the tables groaned under the weight of the edibles provided, and all did justice to the delicacies.
