_Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency ■Company, Limited) reports as follows for the week ending April 6th Fat Cattle.—At this day’s market 214 head were yarded, the greater part of which were sold at about last weak’s prices; but several head, not realising owner’s ideas, were turned out. Bullocks fetched from L 4 2s Cd to LlO 7s €d, and cows L 3 10s to L 9 7s 6d. We sold drafs on account of the Henley Estate and others at the following prices Bullocks, L 4 2s6dto L 8 7s 6d ; and cows. L 3 15s to Tooil/* 3 ' Q uotat ' on for teEt beef, 20s per Fat Calves.—Only five were offered, which sold at from 13s to 26s each. Fat Sheep.—The market was well supplied with 2,028 head, of which 1,527 were crossbreds, the remainder being merino stores. Demand was fairly brisk, and the cross-breds' were sold at from 8s 9d to 14s 3d, showing an improvement of Is to Is Cd per head on last week’s prices; themerinoes were knocked down at 5s 6d. We sold a draft of 144 cross-breds on account of Messrs A. and L. Little, Mount Stewirt, at from 12s 91 to 13s Gd; and quote prime mutton 2jd 2Jd per lb. Fat Lambs.—77 were sold at from 10s to 10s Gd per head. Fat Pigs. 131 offered realised from lls to 02s. We sold 42 at from 28s to 62s each. Store Sheep.—The inquiry continues very strong for all descriptions of store sheep but the supply offering is utterly inadequate to satisfy the demand. Sheepskins.—We disposed of a large catalog ic on Monday at our weekly sale, when the improvement recorded in last report was fully maintained. Cross-breds skins fetched from 2s lOd for ordinary to 6s od for full-woolled ■ raennoes. 2s Id to4s lid ; lambskins, Is 9d to ■3s 6d : and pelts, 7d to Is lOd each. Scoured skins in bales, 7|d p»r lb. Hides —Prices realised at our sale on Monday showed a recovery from the slight depression manifest at the proceeding sale, and the whole of the lots offered were well competed for. Tallow.—The demand being active, and fully equal to taking off all supplies to hand, we have cleared our consignments at some improvement on last prices. Rough fat is worth J6s 6d per •cwt. r Grain.- Wheat: Farmers are beginning to place their produce more freely on the market and no difficulty is exporiened in disposing of any parcels about last week’s quotations. Feed oats are in fair request, chiefly for ship, went, and sales have been made at Is 6d to Is 7d per bushel for good quality. The demand for milling is very small, and quotations nominal at Is 7idto BJ. —Barley . Nothin? of interest to report. °
