Hopes are entertained of the recovery of the Earl of Beaconsfield. It is expected that Greece will accept the ■proposals made by the Porte, for the settlement Jf the frontier question. St. Petersburg, March 31st. An Imperial decree has been issued announcing that a form of representative munioipal government for this city will forthwith bo initiated. Calcutta, March 31st. Intelligence has been received from Afghanistan that a large body of Heratese and Car.dabaries have risen in rebellion against Ayonb Khan at Herat, and are besieging the city. The total quantity of wheat afloat for ’Great Britain is 2,330,000 quarters, April 2nd. The latest bulletin reports the state of Earl of Beaconsfield to be about the same ; be can only sleep occasionally. The spasms from which his Lordship has been suffering have however subsided It is the intention of the British Government to keep a British force of 12,000 troops permanently stationed in Natal and *the Transvaal. April 4th. The latest bulletin issued with regard to Karl Beaconafield’s health states that his Lordship is no worse since last report. A severe disturbance occurred to-day at 'Clogher, County Tyrone, Ireland. The sympathisers of g tenant violently resisted the service of a writ for his ejectment, when a serious riot occurred between the people and the police. The Tatter fired upon the rioters, killed two, and wounded several others. Natal, April 2nd. Intelligence has been received from the Transvaal stating that numbers of Boers who were prominent in the late rebellion, and are opposed to the peace settlement arrived at, have commenced a system of tertorisra over those of their fellow countrymen who have remained loyal and who refused to take up arms against the British. April 4th. The Earl of Beaconsfield is still in a very ‘critical state.
